3. UNICEF funds AA for the Harare Cholera Response

Picking from the success of the initial cholera response project, Africa AHEAD was contracted by UNICEF and our first Program Cooperation Agreement (PCA) was signed to continue with the activities of the first project for 6 months until end of May 2019.

The organization re-engaged the hygiene promoters, mobilized our vehicles and added more staff: 16 Hygiene Promoters, 5 drivers, 1 M&E officer and 1 Program Development Officer (LOE), 1 WASH Program Manager, 1 WASH Officer and Admin and Finance intern were roped in. This escalated our staff to 29 members.

The project is working at providing health and hygiene promotion messages and improving handwashing access to the commuting public in Harare CBD, Mbare terminus, the cholera hot spots of Glen Norah, Glen View and Budiriro high density suburbs of Harare, Glen Norah Churches as well as rehabilitation of public toilets in the CBD and the afore mentioned suburbs. The project will also establish market place CHCs in public markets in the high density suburbs.
