SDGs

Our acronym AHEAD (Applied Health Education and Development) implies the same holistic and integrated approach to long-term and sustainable community development as is the target of the combination of many SDGs.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”.[2] The SDGs, set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and intended to be achieved by the year 2030, are part of UN Resolution 70/1, the 2030 Agenda (Wikipedia).

  1. No Poverty:  Income generation projects in CHCs, enable  saving and loan schemes
  2. Zero Hunger: The CHCs become Food Agriculture and Nutrition (FAN) Clubs which improve health
  3. Good Health and Well-being: FAN clubs enable the nutrition of children
  4. Quality Education: enabling women and girls to earn ensures they  can afford to send girls to school
  5. Gender Equality: When we form a Community Health Club we trigger a process of building a resilient community using hygiene as the entry point
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation: We support CHCs in the provision and maintenance of safe drinking water and sanitation
  7. Environment: organic farming, preventing soil erosion and deforestation (SDG 13) through the use of fuel efficient stoves (SDG 7).
