Description of the Training
This topic consists of 11 cards showing how to make a home made Sugar Salt Solution (SSS). This is used to remedy dehydration, a common symptom of diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is when people defecate very often with watery faeces. Diarrhoea can be easy to cure at home or it can be a symptom of other serious diseases such as Typhoid, Cholera, Malaria, Measles, and HIV/AIDS. Therefore, if diarrhoea in adults continues for more than a week it is vital to seek medical treatment. It is also important to note how the faeces look (with blood or mucous), how often diarrhoea occurs, and it is accompanied by vomiting or feve
How to use Card set 3. ‘Treatment of Diarrhoea’
ACTIVITY: MAKING A SALT SUGAR SOLUTION
- Boil water then leave to cool
- Find an empty 1litre bottle and wash it well.
- Pour the boiled water into the bottle so you know it is 1 litre exactly
- Pour this 1 litre of water into a clean empty jug
- Measure 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the water
- Measure 8 level teaspoons of sugar and add to the water
- Stir well until sugar and salt have dissolved
- Taste: make sure it is not more salty than tears
