AFRICA AHEAD ACCREDITED TRAINERS
Trainers accredited by Africa AHEAD Association have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the CHC Model and are able to effectively transfer their facilitation skills and community mobilisation techniques to field staff and community facilitators. They are available for training other NGO field workers as consultants through Africa AHEAD.
ZIMBABWE

Canaan Makusha came up through the ranks from the grass roots, and is an example of how CHC can benefit rural communities. He joined the CHC in his area in 1999 as an ordinary club member, one of the few men to join. His skills as a carpenter and metal worker gave him a chance to train others in the CHC. He was soon promoted to district trainer for Zim AHEAD, and since then to Project Officer for many of the most successful programmes in Zimbabwe, especially in Chipinge, Chiredzi, Chimanimani, and Mavingo Urban. He has a unique ability to galvanise communities to reach and surpass all targets, and has twice received Directors Award for worker of the Year.
RWANDA

Marcie Mbirira has been the key trainer for 150 Community Health Club facilitators in Rusizi District in the CBEHP Programme from 2014-2016. She is a tireless community worker and is capable of inspiring strong response. She studied Environmental Health Sciences at Kigali University, and came highly recommended as a dedicated field worker.

Fausca Uwingabire was first trained in the Community Based Enviromental Health Promotion Programme in 2011 by Dr. Waterkeyn in the first CHC training workshop for National Trainers. She has since be responsible for many training workshops around Rwanda and is a lively facilitator. She joined Africa AHEAD in the last phase of the monitoring of the Randomised Control Trial and was Research Assistant in the collection and analysis of data which resulted in the publication which challenged the result of the trial. She was Africa AHEAD’s Country Director briefly before the programme was closed in 2017. She is a dedicated development professional lecturing at the University of Rwanda.

Justin Itai: After a long career in the Environmental Health Department in Ministry of Health, Justin first came across the CHC Approach when he was asked by dr. Waterkeyn to help facilitate in the training of trainers in first CHC programme In Uganda, for the IDP camps in gulu in 2003. He was ‘converted to the approach and has since trained numerous facilitators in participatory activites. He also has manged programmes for Malaria Consortium and International Lifeline Fund, with great sucess and verifiable positive results. He is an engaging trainer who gets the best out of any workshop audience.
